Sealey Sx205 Wheel Bolt Thread Chasers M12 & M14

I had three partly stripped threads on my rear right wheel hub (due to a high torque impact wrench being used to tighten the nuts).The bolts were also stripped at the tip so I replaced them. However with brand new bolts, I still could not get them to screw into the hub no matter how hard i tried.I did some reading and eventually came across these wheel bolt thread chasers (after initially being led down a similar path with spark plug thread chasers). I wasn't 100% convinced they would resolve the problem, but thought it was worth a try vs the cost of replacing the wheel hub.The first 15 minutes or so was disappointing - I couldn't get them to bite into any of the three threads at all. I was turning them clockwise and applying pressure, but they wouldn't bite. Then, I grabbed a mallet and began the process again but this time, started by giving it a few firm taps (or hits..) with the mallet. After doing this, I rotated the chaser and immediately I could feel it beginning to bite in, and sure enough I was able to tighten it all the way into the thread.And sure enough, after removing it, all 3 bolts screwed in easily. I couldn't believe it worked to be honest. I've no idea how much the dealer or a garage would have charged to replace the hub (2012 BMW E91 3 series touring), but I imagine it would have been an awful lot.So I absolutely recommend these. They do exactly what they say on the tin, and saved the day for me.

Never use a tap to clean out stripped threads use one of these. A tap will cut the threads off weakening or destroying the threaded fit, chasers like this will instead reform the damaged threads. You can easily make a chaser yourself by filing a groove into the side of a bolt, but at this price and quality why bother? Good stuff
