Starrett means quality!

Great product. Glad I purchased it. It's a welcome addition to my layout kit.

Fast delivery

There is no question that this is the real thing made by Starrett. Sharp knurling, fine threads on the collet and fine straight point. Additionally it has a very nice balance and heft that should make it a pleasure to use. I can also swap the point for the harder carbon steel point that is featured on the Bx. I have read complaints that the point falls out. I did notice that it requires some good strength to tighten it fully. I assume that this is to prevent any wobble between the point and the handle. I am always happy to pick up a fine instrument.

Starrett Quality Through and Through

If you ever have the choice between a Starrett and something else, do yourself a favor and go with the Starrett. I must confess that I've been tempted in the past to save $10 - $20 by going with an alternate brand, but every time I have I've lived to regret it.I purchased this item to scribe extremely accurate lines in the dovetail joints of drawers. I did not need the specially hardened tips available on some versions of this tool as I would be working strictly in wood, but I did require the extra long 2⅞" present in this version so that I could reach down into the corners of each joint. The tool worked flawlessly, and when complete, a few turns of the knurled collet released the scribe so that the pointed end could be safely stored within the handle. Overall, this is a beautiful tool that functions flawlessly and lives up to the Starrett name admirably. If you're looking for a scribe you need look no further because you just found the best.

It's very nice and highly recommend

It's very nice and highly recommend. I like the larger size compared to the 70A, it's not overly big, it feels like a ball point pen and the 70A feels more like a pencil. The scribe is very solid with the tip having zero play and very centered, the length is great. It has a nice balance and solid feel to it but not heavy. It's quick and easy to remove the tip and store the tip inside the scribe, it tightens up securing and protecting the tip.The only downfall and why I'm giving it only 4 stars is that the model number is not marked on the tool (I don't like that). I have never seen anything from Starrett without a model number on it. I have 70 year old Starret tools that I've inherited and it has been extremely useful having the model number on them so I can get the correct parts for it. It maybe a problem for me or grandson 20-60 years from now to pull out this scribe and figure out what model it is so I can order a new tip for it. I do expect this scribe to out live me.

Perfection !!!

High quality and super fine/sharp tip. Well built. Is a bit larger than pictures make it appear. Still pocket sized and damn near perfect. Tip can be reversed for proctecting it. Locks down tight with tip out or tip hidden for proctecting it (and yourself). Never seen a tip this sharp.

NICE!

This product is fantastic.Love it’s versatility, that fact that is breaks down for storage is amazing.Other scribe are just straight and pointless, if they fall off the fab table typically break due to their hardness. This is great, use it break it down and the scribe goes right into the body.Great bang for the buck.

Exactly as you would expect from a reputable engineering tool brand such as Starrett.

This scriber is a nice size. The weight and knurled grip makes it feel quality and stable in your hand.I wondered about the steel tip as my other scriber has a carbide tip, but so far this works just as well on all the materials I've used it on.One handy little note is that the tip can be turned round and the point sort of stored in the handle. I'm not sure if you are supposed to do this but it does work, although it doesn't seem to tighten quite as well as when in its proper position, so the tip can sometimes come loose when doing this.Overall a great sized and quality feeling little scriber, glad I picked it up.

Another quality Starrett tool

Got this for drawing accurate lines on aluminum projects. Well designed and thought out tool, replaceable tip. Knurling is nice, not QUITE as nice as on the Starrett center punch. But it is still a good quality tool, highly recommend.
