Intriguing question. As a believer in the mystic, as propelled by science, I don't think I ever treated this much differently than say a set of worry or prayer beads. Charging comes solely at the discretion and powers of the possessor.

Q: How do Talismans generally work , especially ones for Writers and the like?

The way I look at it it's like a luck charm. I'm a writer so this for me works really well. For me I can feel a connection to the talisman that inspires my writing. I would say it works because I finally finished writing a book that if been working one for 8 years and I've only had the talisman for about a year I believe. It helps a lot.

Q: Is it for men or women?

Either. I have one and I gave one to my teenage nephew. Very powerful amulet!

Q: would it end up hurting the necklace if I ended up always wearing it to the shower(like if I never took it off even to shower)

I have several of these, a couple of which i wear almost constantly. i do take them off to shower, but since they are pewter they won't rust and you can shower while wearing them with no worries. the engraving is deep, so they hold up really well to constant wear.
