Wish I had bought this sooner - 7 month old has never slept so well!
The Sproutwise Pack n Play mattress is PERFECT! I am so thankful I took a chance on this, even if I hadn't been planning to travel with the Pack n Play. My daughter never slept well in her Graco Pack n Play and would kick in frustration all night - BAM BAM BAM. Yep, that's what my husband and I heard all night, and there was nothing to deaden the sound of my daughter raising both legs and slamming them down with all of her little 5-month-old might. She'd "sleep" through the night but awaken with dark circles under her eyes from kicking in her sleep. I had a feeling it had to do with the hard-as-a-rock "mattress" (more accurately described as a hard plank with a tiny bit of cushion) that comes with the Pack n Play because she never seemed comfortable on it. I researched and read through reviews for other Pack n Play mattresses, but everyone seemed to be in agreement that they were just as hard as the one that comes with the Pack n Play. This Sproutwise mattress was the only one that was mentioned as a suitable alternative for babies that needed a bit more cushion, so, regardless of not really caring about its foldability, I chose this one. As an added bonus, people mentioned that there is no smell - and they are right! What a relief! I am highly sensitive to the smells of plastics and was concerned about other mattresses with vinyl coating; I'm happy to report that once this mattress is removed from the packaging (the packaging is vinyl, so be prepared for that) and aired out for a few minutes, all smells disappear. My daughter was 6 months old when I decided to try this mattress, and I wish I had gotten it sooner. She has never slept so well, and she might even sleep better on this than her ueber-expensive Naturepedic organic crib mattress, which she has slept on during naps just fine; we use the Pack n Play in the master bedroom for long nighttime sleeping and will continue to do so until she's 1 year old and moves to her bedroom at night, so we needed a decent mattress for it. Despite other reviews, the Sproutwise mattress isn't too soft but is just right for babies with a good bit of neck strength (I can't way whether or not it would work for newborns, though - maybe a bit too soft). Another review mentioned that one can feel the creases in the mattress. I put a water-resistant mattress cover on top (I believe it's the organic one from American Baby) and can't detect the creases in the mattress when it's on, so I can't say how it would feel without the cover. Because I have the American Baby cover on it that I had purchased before I bought this mattress, I also can't say how the cover that comes with the Sproutwise mattress holds up in the wash as I've never had to wash it. But I CAN say that this mattress and the very sturdy canvas carrying bag worked out great during a recent trip to the beach. Someone mentioned that this mattress is heavy, and maybe they took this on an airplane or something, but I actually find this mattress to be light and super easy to toss in the back of the car...but not TOO light. It's substantial, and I'd hate for it to be any thinner or lighter because it would affect the quality and comfort of the mattress.All-in-all, this mattress is a great solution for those who think the Pack n Play is too hard; it's well-made and convenient for travel, and I couldn't be more pleased - highly recommended!

The best on the market.....and I own the other brand too.
*UPDATE*My daughter sleeps in a pack n play currently and this mat is our go to over the mamadoo mat. It has held up so well and the waterproof cover is so very nice to have! Parents out there know how much babies spit up and having that waterproof cover saves the mattress a lot of grief and me a lot of trouble. The customer service is above average for a company, they let me know several months after I purchased this product that a carrying case was now included. Since I did not receive one initially they sent me one free of charge. The carrying case is much more substantial than the mamadoo one. It is made of canvas and includes a nice carrying strap. This is hands down the winner in my book now that both have been used extensively. I wish we had purchased two of these mats originally. I think it will get a lot of use even past the pack n play stage as well. Why not use it as a space saving nap pad?Lastly - we recently stayed at my mother in laws and had both mats with us. She was so kind to take them out of their covers and clean the inside foam pieces. Upon seeing the guts of the mama doo and the sprout wise side by side - the sprout wise is hands down superior. Not to mention the cover is much more substantial. The mama doo mat had stains all over that the sprout wise didn't have due to the cover being waterproof.Original Review_______I postponed writing this review till we had several weeks of use under our belt. For reference I have a 17 month old and a 7 month old (it's possible ). We first bought the mama doo pack n play mattress because at the time my son stopped sleeping in a pack n play and we decided more padding would help (it did, immensely). When I researched it was the only option I saw that folded. We love it and still use it. So when the 7 month old grew out of her bassinet it was time to buy another pack n play mat. I did a little research (because I have product A.D.D. much to my husbands dismay) and found this mattress.Pros:The mattress has a waterproof coverIt's pretty dang thick (which is also a con)It's sustainable and non-toxic for babyIt feels high qualityCons:No carrying case (-1 star - the mama doo has one and it is oh so handy to keep the mattress folded and clean!!!) I should have looked closer at this as it would have swayed me to buy a second mama doo. To me, it seemed like an obvious thing to include.Extra thick and pretty bulky which makes it less pack able. The mama doo is thinner but seems just as comfy.Overall if you are buying a mattress for a pack n play that you don't move around and you don't travel then I would get this mattress besides the fact that you can buy non folding pack n play mats for much much cheaper (-1 star because to me the purpose of a folding mattress and the high price is pack ability and the mama doo far outshines this mattress in that regard)But this is still a good product and I'm glad to see more options on the market. So for me and my family's needs the mama doo wins. But if you are deciding on whether to buy an extra mattress for your pack n play - most definitely do! Makes them so much more comfy for your little one and that equals more sleep for mommy and daddy!

Will buy for future kiddos!
My son sleeps in his pack and play 100% of the time as we decided not to spend the money for a crib when he was born. The pack and play mattress is the particle board mattress with a little bit of padding on top. Each seam was incredibly noticeable and it just wasn't soft enough to be comfortable. We finally decided to buy a mattress for it and this one looked great. He immediately started sleeping better and I no longer feel the pang of guilt as I lay him down in his crib. The only cons I found are that the first one we got the sheet corners tore open a little in our washing machine when I washed as directed. But we have other issues with our specific machine and I may just need to hand wash it until we move to a different machine. Also, when you remove the sheet the foam pads are covered in a net-like covering and the serging on the ends came undone. I did, however, replace with NO issues and have not had any more issues with the new mattress. I feel this must take away a star, but I still would like to give a 5 star because I no longer feel guilty laying my munchkin down for bed.We will definitely buy again for future kiddos!
