Surprisingly effective!
These work so well that I had to start wearing work gloves after accidentally rasping my finger. I find the tool fairly easy to control, and it takes off a lot more than sandpaper. I highly recommend that you try one of these if you work with wood.

Hands down the most underrated woodworking tool out there. If you want to shape wood into handles for axes or other tools, this is a must have. Exceptional Japanese quality. Worth every penny.

2 Sided!
This a great wrasp! Bonus!- it has 2 sides one rough, the other fine! The only reason for not giving 5 stars- I wish the handle was a bit longer to fit more comfortably in my hand.

If you're scrolling through the reviews to make a decision on this Shinto Rasp... I would highly recommend you to just buy it, you won't be disappointed. It's built durable , and works great. I use it to hang my restored axes. It's incredibly sharp, and allows me to shave off enough material with ease for a precision fit. Just like the other reviews, it's definitely a tool every wood worker should have. It's great even for beginners just doing a DIY project.
