while the story line is clever, I still think $3.50 is a high price for such a tiny "book"
while the story line is clever, I still think $3.50 is a high price for such a tiny "book." The endings are getting better, more of a summary before the story is over. 5 stars for the story line, 2 stars for the price.

cheery during a pandemic
The fourth book in this series featuring witch-in-training Mildred Hubble, a most impetuous and clumsy girl, is not as good as the first book or the third, "A Bad Spell for the Worst Witch." In the latter, Mildred rescues an enchanted frog; in this sequel, the rescued wizard Algernon Rowan-Webb treats Mildred and her entire class to a week by the seaside. For those familiar with English seaside holidays, you won’t be surprised to find the location grim and the weather dreadful. But, as you can imagine, Mildred manages to upset things before setting things right in the most surprising way. While not the best in the series, it was a cheery note in during coronavirus, exactly what I needed.

Funny, warm and full of vibrant characteristions
The first four Worst Witch stories re-recorded with a new narrator, Gemma Arterton. This was bought as a replacement for the previous edition, recorded by Miriam Margolis, which became damaged. Gemma Arterton's readings of these stories are flawless and hugely enjoyable. Her voices and characterisations are superb, distinct and lively, with a sweet, hapless Mildred, sneering Ethel and stern, icy Miss Hardbroom picked out especially well. Her grunting sounds when Ethel is turned into a pig are hilarious! Arterton reads with warmth and humour and she makes these recordings fun and friendly. The box set of four stories is great value, and I hope that Ms Arterton will record the remaining books in the series, perhaps including the most recent ...Wishing Star, to complete the series with a second box set. Please do this soon before I run out of children in the family to give me an excuse to listen to these wonderful readings.

We love a good audio book
The Worst Witch arrived on time with great packaging.About us - we are a family of four (mum, dad and two boys (aged 6&9)). We have extremely long (about an hour) car journeys travelling to and from school. My eldest has some extra learning needs so is possibly a little more immature than most 9 year olds. We generally upload the cd to our iPhone so we can listen to the story in the car and my children can use the cd at home.I introduced The Worst Witch to my children over the summer holiday via the film and reading the books from the library. They loved it (I was secretly very pleased too). The lady reading the story is in no way annoying which is always a worry when buying audio books, and entices you in to listen to the story. She is not as captivating as say David Walliams when he reads his books but still the gentle tone she uses is good.Very happy with this audio book.

An amusing and fantastic read!
My daughter loves the worst witch books and has sought out all the books that the school possesses to read. I also enjoy these books as she reads them to me...actually bought this copy in particular as she vomited forth over this book at school and I just couldn’t leave the school without! Fantastic story though, poor Mildred is forever in trouble at Miss Cackle’s academy for witches.

You can't beat a trip down memory lane
I remember reading these books when I was in school and I loved them, so when I saw they were available on kindle I couldn't resist buying the set! Fantastic series, I'm 35 no2 and I still enjoy them 📚📖😂😂

Great series of books for 6-8 y.os
My 7 y.o daughter loves the Worst Witch series and we have read them all. I find them amusing too as the sense of humour is sometimes quite dry. They are good stories and not as predictable as some of the series that are available for children.
