This is a very sturdy and robust little colander and is perfect for what I bought it for, to drain water from cooked rice. I don't think it's particularly suitable for washing rice prior to cooking as some grains will tend to fall through the holes however once cooked and the rice was swollen no grains can escape. I'm impressed with the build quality of the colander, it's easy to use and clean and should last a lot longer than the wire mesh colander I was using before.

Appearance

I wanted a larger size colander with a small raised base and side handles. This ticks those boxes. The small holes make it good for rinsing smaller foods while the large size overall means it's good for bigger quantities of large-leafed items like cabbage for example. Seems sturdy and well made.

Very pleased to find this colander in a smaller size which is still loads big enough to provide ample space for 2 generous helpings of rice.

Bought this after having two collapsible silicone ones split after a few years. This will last a lifetime I think. Smaller than my previous ones but does the job perfectly (there are two of us) and doesn’t take up as much room in our dishwasher. There are loads of colanders out there but not all suitable for draining rice if you don’t use the absorption method. Very pleased and would recommend.

Freestanding makes it so useful. No long handle so easy to store.
