I have wanted a bees wax dipped hive for awhile, the rest of mine are painted white. I have always enjoyed the natural look. After looking at several hives I chose this one because it had the pre drilled screw holes. Having never put one together before I wanted to know exactly where I should have screws. This was a great hive to start with in building them myself because in the past I have always bought assembled. It went together easily and the only thing I had to buy was wood glue. Other hives often need to have screws and nailed purchased to put together. It is great quality and I love the dove tail joints. If I can put this hive together then anyone can do it. The only negative was a small one. I believe that they burn their logo into the wood after it has been dipped. It left some bare spots without wax (see my second picture). I fixed this by melting some additional wax that I already had into these spots. I will definitely buying additional hives and boxes in the future.

The media could not be loaded. This was a wonderful project to put together with the family and our first Hive! It was prewaxed and comes with frames! The boxes fit together like a puzzle and secured with screws. (Their are two different sizes, long and short screws.) Also remember that two nails can be used to secure the top part of the frames and 1 on the bottom. We glued them together before nailing them. I like how sturdy the box is and the ladies seem to love their new home. They collected alot of honey in no time! I think it's because of the faux prefabricated comb in the frames. Less work for them to make. We loved the boxes so much we got 2 more in anticipation of a Spring split. Totally worth the money! Our first harvest was decent!

This is a very well made kit with really tight joints. However I want to point out the instructions are absolutely horrible. There are like 3 sketches with minimal text. A basic understanding of carpentry, construction, model building , etc would be extremely helpful. I recommend you have some good non toxic wood glue , a rubber mallet , a hammer, and some sort of electric screw driver (even if it's just a screw driver bit for a drill) . Also you need to be able to put in Nails straight. You could use a very small drill bit to drill pilot holes for the nails , if installing nails with a hammer isnt something you're good at.I've been building for many years, so this was fairly easy for me. However it could be a difficult project for people with no assembly or building background.The hive itself once assembled properly is simply amazing. I will be buying more of these kits.

First off, my hats off to Maybee for shipping the product in one day with Prime. I had ordered another brand which had promise me delivery in 2-days and I found the day I was supposed to get it that they had not shipped yet and then the updated delivery would be in the next weeks. With Maybee, my package arrives today, so I was glad that I could assemble this hive and it is now ready.When I opened the box and saw all the parts I was worried that I would not do this correctly. But the parts fit together snug and the instructions were straightforward. Not only does it look good, especially with the beeswax finish, but it is fairly sturdy. I will update my review as soon as the bees have accepted the hive.

Looks good, easy to assemble and comes ready for bees. Previous purchase of this item is very sturdy and is home to a large hive. Can't go wrong purchasing this hive. Top notch product.
