I bought this to support multiple vehicles in the family. One of the standout features of the Xtool D8S is its extensive vehicle coverage. It supports diagnostics for a wide range of makes and models, including both domestic and foreign vehicles. The tool can read and clear trouble codes from all major systems, such as the engine, transmission, ABS, and airbag systems.Another major reason I bought this tool is the availability to view modules in Topology view which can be very helpful in identifying and narrowing your focus in troubleshooting. This function is normally available in tools costing twice as much.the D8S has 38 special functions. One function I was intersted in was Key Programming and couldn't find it. I reached out to support and they responded within 24hrs and informed me that it is now located under the IMMO Reset special function. I was very happy to hear that and with the prompt response.Considering its features and capabilities, the Xtool D8S is competitively priced in the market. As the heading says, I spent WAY too much time researching this. As you will discover, there are so many choices for scan tools out there. Early on, I bought on impulse and a couple tools sit in the basement. I finally got smart and went down research rabbit hole researching options. What I found is some of the “million plus subscriber” you tube mechanics speak highly of this marvelous product. Lots of info on-line about this unit, all overwhelmingly positive. I finally decided to make the decision to buy it, and my expectations have been exceeded, and that doesn’t happen very often with purchases today. Is this the cheapest, of course not. But come on all, when exactly did we come to believe the cheapest is the best or “just good enough”. This tool covers every car imaginable. It has more than saved me the cost of the unit. ALL the features on my Toyota’s, GM, Nissan and Ford vehicles are covered (yes, I have too many cars, it’s a sickness I know). It’s intuitive to use, the support is what we once thought support should be (I had just a couple questions, all promptly answered). This tool will do more than nearly all of us average DIY’ers need, but we’re all different, my “outlier” need may be different than yours. What I discovered is this D8S covers it all. I could talk details, but it’s enough to say I have been unable to find ANYTHING I need from a diagnostic perspective this unit can’t do. It’s ruggedly built (no worries about knocking it around a little bit), updates happen flawlessly, it’s just flat out a great tool. I don’t write a lot of reviews as frankly most products are one of many that will do and aren’t worthy of my time to write a review. This is one I decided to drone on about as the work the group responsible for this fine product more than deserves it. So quit obsessing over what scanner to buy like I did. This is flat out a great product. You truly do sometimes get what you pay for.
