LOSCATO 50-Ounce Double Wall Stainless Steel French Press Coffee Maker (1.5L)

If you're looking for a large coffee press, this is the one. It is high quality stainless steel, with a double wall. Coffee stays HOT for a good hour. Brought this on a Moorings sailing trip (8 people on a boat), and it was a hit! You won't be disappointed.

We have been using the same thermal stainless French press for many years. When it recently broke beyond repair (years ago we were able to find replacement for a part that had broken), we decided to get a larger stainless thermal press. This particular press is large and very reasonably priced. The lines are simple and construction is very good. There is one very small design flaw - there is no indication on the top of the lid where the coffee will best pour (one part of the underside of the lid is sloped to allow for ease of pouring). One can pour coffee with the lid in any position, but it is easier with the sloped part positioned at the spout. The spout is well designed, with no residual drip after pouring. A nice plus is that the press is sent with an extra screen! A helpful hint, not related to the quality of this press - IF you heat your water with an electric kettle (as we do), be sure that your kettle is big enough to heat enough water for this larger press; It's frustrating to try to make a large pot of coffee without enough hot water. This was a huge oversight on our part.

Update 03/30/2021:5 years later and this thing is STILL amazing! I need to give it a good cleaning but we still use it every day!Original review:One of the best french presses we've owned thus far. It's very well insulated so no worries about burning your hands, plus it stays hotter longer. The spout offers a beautiful pour. Came with extra filters. We love it and use it every day.

It didn't make very good coffee.

This one is kinda "meh". Looked ok, but the top fits a bit loose, the plunger is a little odd, the screen keeps coming loose, and it doesn't keep things hot nearly as long as the other "double walled" presses I've owned. Also, and maybe it's just me and the wife, but coffee seems to taste different in this as compared to other models. Not sure why. Overall, I'd give it a pass.

This makes a good pot of coffee. French press is my favorite way to brew. Keeps coffee warm enough if drinking fast. But all that metal does move the heat out of the coffee to only warm within an hour. The press plate and screen do not completely disassemble; they will loosen, but there is a tiny weld on the threads that prevent complete removal. It does loosen enough to clean pretty well.

Love this press! Thought I'd miss not being able to see the level of coffee inside; but it's bulletproof nature and ability to keep coffee hot for a long time make this our favorite coffee press.

Works well for a good price. My only very minor complaint is how the screw connector unscrews from both the stem and part that holds the screen. When I take it apart to clean it, I have to make sure it's screwed about halfway into each side. I have a 1qt model of another brand and the connector is attached to the stem. Other than that, no complaints and this is a bargain.
