Q: Is this really made of rubber as stated? And are there any differences between this and the Airshot?

The can is aluminum. The hose is rubber. The fitting on the end is chrome plated steel. I had to file off the shards of chrome. If the air shots not too much more, I get one of those just because of the pieces of chrome.

Q: I just received my Booster. When I pump it up using a floor pump, air starts to leak from the black top piece where is screws in to the canister.

Did you try tightening the black top piece? Mine didn’t leak.

Q: Is this the same idea as a floor pump that has a "booster" option? or better? i have a joe blow booster pump and it works like 50% of the time

Not really , this is not working as a pump. it's mostly for tubeless tires that need a big burst of air to fit the tire onto the rim
