Great 180 degree camera.

180 degree camera with POE or 12v power that just works. Reolink makes great affordable cameras with easy to use software.

Great camera performance, but so-so mechanical design

I used this 180° FOV camera to replace a 9-year-old Hikvision that had about half the FOV. What a commanding view I now have of my entire back yard! The color images and resolution of this camera are also leaps and bounds ahead of that 9-year-old Hikvision.Set up to make it recognized by Synology Surveillance Station was a little tricky, but not terrible. I needed to configure the Reolink with the same static IP address that I used for the outgoing Hikvision camera, and there is no way do that via the Reolink iOS app. So I downloaded the Windows version of the Reolink app, and tried to find the camera on my network using the automatic scans offered by the Reolink Windows app, but it could not find the camera. I then tried manually directing the Windows app to the camera's DHCP-assigned address, but that also didn't work. I finally typed in the serial number of the new camera into the app, and then the app found the camera immediately. After I was in, I changed it to the static IP address, and then configured my Synology software for thenew Reolink camera - no problem, everything worked as expected after that.Mechanically, the Reolink camera isn't as ruggedly-designed as the Hikvision - the Reolink mast mount is made of plastic and feels a bit flimsy, whereas the Hikvision was made of metal and has withstood 9 years of Michigan hot summers and cold winters with no issues. More importantly, the cabling that connects the camera to your network's Ethernet is left exposed to the elements with this Reolink design, which is a decidedly-amateur approach compared to the Hikvision that had all the cabling neatly protected inside the metal housing that mates to the junction box on your house. I would be very surprised if this Reolink lasts anywhere close to the 9 years that the Hikvision was installed (and was still going strong by the way; I only replaced because I wanted a wider field-of-view). All that said, the Reolink camera is about 1/3-1/4 the price that I paid for the Hikvision, so if it lasts at least a few years, I suppose I can just get another one.

Doesn't Detect at Night

The media could not be loaded. PROS:- Amazing 180 degree images from these dual cameras- High-quality images- Two-way audio- Night-time IR vision out to about 90m- Excellent motion detection & differentiation between people, vehicles, and pets - during the day- Lots of options for fine-tuning the system's detection & deterrence. (You can paint non-detection zones for each camera, set each camera to detect or not detect vehicles and/or people and/or animals, detection sensitivity for each, whether to turn on the spotlight, whether to turn on the siren, etc.)- PoE (Power over Ethernet) with NVR system is easier to install than coaxial cable & power adapters with DVR systems- Wired system provides higher quality images and more reliability without interference than wireless systemsCONS:- Night-time detection without ambient light doesn't work well. You have to be within 15-20 feet for it to detect you, and even then, it didn't detect me at all about 10% of the time. A couple of times I was able to get all the way to the front door and the garage door without being detected at all. I have tried various adjustments and worked with Reolink's senior support, and they have been unable to resolve the issue. This is a deal breaker for me. Night-time deterrence is my #1 requirement.- At night, the cameras generate a lot of false alarms. I've tried various settings, but it hasn't helped.- When you get an alert, there's no way to immediately see the video of the alert that just happened. This is important to me to be able to quickly distinguish between real threats and false alarms.- The software is somewhat buggy. Changing settings doesn't always stick.- The software is inconsistent. There are some settings you can only change on the phone, and others that you can only change on the desktop app or directly connected to the NVR.I'm not sure yet which manufacturer to switch to. Those I've researched so far seem to all have about 10-15% of their customers extremely dissatisfied due to faulty systems.
