I'll make it short and simple. There are dozens of cheap DACs out there. I tried a few of them because , well, I'm a bit cheap and skeptic on DACS. Returned them all due to VERY bad sound quality. Lower then laptops.This impressed me. For what I paid for it, you get great sound stage, very clean silences when on high volume, and in general improved my listening on my IEMs and low power headphones. I highly recommend to anyone wanting to jump in to the dac game. You wont be dissapointed.

I bought this because my HYBY FC1 gave up the ghost and at the time a replacement wasn't available. It was more expensive but I figured it was worth the extra investment. Well, in some ways it is. It has a good clear strong sound, goes loud without distortion, and will drive most headphones with ease. There's nothing to actually complain about and if simple amplification is your goal it is a good choice. The problem is that sonically it just isn't as sensitive and detailed. I listen to a lot of classical and jazz and the FC4 undoubtedly gives you the music, but it doesn't give you the atmosphere, the ambience, the sound of fingers on fretboards. It just isn't as involving. The same is true if I'm listening to rock. The FC1 gives you those 'Oh Wow!' moments, which in the FC4 just aren't there. I know all this is very subjective, and down to personal taste but if those details matter to you, try spending half as much and giving the FC1 a shot. It is also worth noting, as others have done, that this unit is quite power hungry and will drain the battery on your phone quite noticeably, which isn't an issue with the FC1. To me it's worth a solid four stars- it may be a five to you so don't let me put you off, as it still represents pretty good value for money

Hiby FC4 has added to my quality of life. It is a noticeable improvement over onboard audio on my computer or my phone audio. I am not trained audiophile so I am not going to attempt any detailed comparisons. Subjectively, I really enjoy the fuller and detailed sound. It has plenty power for my needs - it drives with no problem both my Tanchjim Zero IEMs and even HiFiMan Edition XS, which supposed to be relatively hard to drive.I would suggest to upgrade the firmware for the dongle. My came with version 1.08 and the latest version at time of writing this is 1.12. Note that when you download the DFU tool from Hiby the default is in Chinese. To get English make sure to edit HiBy_DFU_Tool.exe.config by changing default language from zh_CN to en_CN before running the HiBy_DFU_Tool.exe. Also the upgrade will work only with the unit connected to USB 3.0 port - when connected to newer variants of the USB port the tool was crashing before performing the firmware upgrade. When I used a bit older computer with a bit older USB version the upgrade worked fine.

An excellent little device that I am using via my mobile phone to enhance the output of music whilst on the go. It's very small, simple to use and offers impressive sound for the price. Yes, there are better DACs available, but at this price point and with it being so portable it's great value.

They didn't work with my HD600 or the brilliant Verum Audio's without fiddling with the connections.Worked OK with cheaper phones and in-ears though.

I use these so I can listen to music on my wired headphones. They have a built in amp so music is loud and clear and if you have hi rez music it allows the headphones to pick up so much detail. I love this and is so much cheaper than a dap player with cost from £100 to £3000. This way you save money and keep the brilliant sound.

Sounds good and was nice enough but the software support is nothing short of DIABOLICAL. It's now not working so well and it needs a firmware update, but this is absolutely impossible to do. There's next to zero online support, only forums where other people have also had loads of problems. It's just a nightmare. It's a case of great hardware, totally awful software and support. Next time I'm never going to buy one of these chinese brands and will stick to a reputable company like AUDIOQUEST or AUDIOLAB who have UK based support and there after sales backup is much much better.

When I plugged First time sound was scratchy and distorted I couldn't believe how bad. I checked on the Internet reviews some people had same problems and some of them updated firmware and fixed. I got firmware from hiby sites but firmware Chinese language. I have Huawei p40 pro phone and camera translated text thanks Huawei other wise I couldn't figure. Why no English and they selling stuff for European markets no English support. Anyway updated firmware but little bit complicated. Sounds fixed . Sounds really good but you need bassy iems or bassy headphones because can get little bit sharp. 4.4 mm ended really loud also 3.5 mm . If you put your pocket or cover then get hot otherwise just little warm. I have fc1 also I like because you can change tracks holding few seconds volume buttons but this one volume buttons only works for volume but way more powerful . I owned many dongle dacs this is good musical sound but not good as ibasso dc4 pro. I recommend but you have to update firmware also little heavy on phones batteries not like fc1. If you iems user and single ended I recommend fc1 really good and half price. This is only half days experience it might change my reviews in the future. So far Happy enough. Thanks for reading.
