I searched around quite a lot before purchasing this LODGE griddle. I did not want en enameled product, I wanted something I could blast on the burner until very hot without having to worry about damaging the pan or the coating.I read some negative reviews but this has not been my experience.Be aware: the pan is HEAVY, the handle gets super-hot and cannot be put in the dishwasher. Cleaning it also requires some time. Instructions say not to use soap to avoid removing the seasoning: I ended up using 2 drops of soap and a nylon brush as the cooking grease would just not come off with water. I have been doing this a few times and my food has been great every time. I also dry the pan on the hob to make sure there is no water left at all.I can finally grill some aubergine slices and they WON'T stick to the pan. I grilled a salmon fillet yesterday for the first time: it did not get stuck to the pan and it was grilled to perfection.The picture attached is my actual pan after 2 months of use.Bottom line: this is a 'demanding' pan because of the way it is made. If you are not prepared to spend some extra time on it, look elsewhere but do not blame the product.

I bought this mainly to cook steaks and burgers and it is used only occasionally. Beware of it size as the dimensions refer to the overall size of 10.5 inches whereas the actual cooking surface is 8.5inches, something to consider if you’re planning to cook 2 good size steaks. Nevertheless it does what I expected from it, delicious steaks and perfect burgers. I’ve not had problems of some reviewers with cleaning, in fact it cleaned as easily as some non-stick cookware. One other thing - it is HEAVY and just as well it has 2 handles. New to cast iron cookware I’m thinking of getting the Lodge frying pan.

Best pan I've every bought for cooking meat by far. It makes the steaks taste much more chargrilled than I expected for a pan. Makes them taste better than our gas BBQ does them. Such great value for money. Well worth the money spent. The only drawback is I t takes some getting used to cleaning and seasoning it every time you use it. It's harder to clean than your average non-stick pan (as expected) but the way it cooks your steak is well worth the cleaning effort. It doesn't lose heat like a normal pan does when you try to cook a few steaks at a time. Maintains heat even 5-10 minutes after you turn the hob off. Excellent!

Yes a very nice product. Heat it up to the highest and sizzle and cook those steaks or whatever meats you like. The product claims to be pre-seasoned but somehow I seem to doubt it. Keeping the seasoning on the pan is a trial and error thing. I LOVE CAST IRON like this. But it is something that has to be learned, the seasoning that is.

Very pleased with the Griddle Pan, good weight and well made so looking forward to using it .along with all my other cast iron potsAMAZON ...I was horrified with the packaging it arrived in, just a brown paper envelope, the handle of pan had poked out through it just relieved it wasn't damaged , Cast Iron needs PROPER packaging, box and good padding round it ,as Cast Iron can break easily

Really good product. Had for a while before started using, followed the instructions from a previous reviewer on washing and seasoning the skillet (as I lost my instructions). It cooks meat really thoroughly and nicely with the stripes. It is heavy and all the pan gets hot including the handle as it is one piece of cast iron. I have silicone handle covers which takes care of that. As mentioned it is heavy therefore I am extra careful when moving the pan when it contains hot oil etc. That said I am really happy with my purchase.

This product doesn’t even deserve a one star, it stained my kitchen granite and turned rusty after one use. Very heavy and gets very hot, I would not recommend.

At Last! A grill pan that will give the proper char marks you want from a steak. This is a serious piece of kit that if looked after (and it's not difficult) may well outlast all of us. Keep it seasoned, which is not difficult at all, just follow the instructions eg the oiling of the pan, leaving just a light coating and placing upside down in the oven. This may sound a bit odd, but after a little while, the pan will actually get even better. Don't buy the Lodge silicone hot handle because it's rubbish, but the Lodge scrubbing brush does what it's meant to do (I bought those items too). The grill pan has got a decent weight to it too. If you like seared steaks/chicken, this is the pan you want, Lodge know exactly what they're doing here, it's class.
