Catch it while you still can.

I'd never watched it from start to finish so thought better do it before it goes the way of Mein Kampf. Sure it's dated and of its time but no reason to clutch ones pearls,it's epic film making and entertaining despite the mildly unsavoury aspects.

Great Film & Perfect Bluray

I have tried so many times to watch this film until the very end! I’ve lost interest, fallen asleep, or just plain given up! Anyway, this time I finally managed it, I bought the Bluray version to help me concentrate for the journey!Firstly, the Bluray is just fantastic quality and crystal clear – 10/10.It’s a bit of a waste of time going over the plot isn’t it - after all these years! Just to say that Clark and Vivian were fantastic as the leads, and who couldn’t help but love that maid! Old Rhett, all tan, teeth & tash – but what a good looking guy – and rich as well girls! Well, Scarlett, you got what you deserved didn’t you! No sympathy from this end I’m afraid. What a memorable scene that was when Rhett was leading the buggy through the fire and munitions, and that huge torched warehouse collapsed around them -utterly amazing cinematography for its day. That will always stay with me.Can you believe that Gable did not win an AA for his performance, but Leigh did – even the maid did! So, he lost the war, his wife and his trophy. No wonder he turned a drink? The only other thing I can say is just how much I enjoyed this film having finally stayed the course. Perhaps I found it easier now that I’m older – I think that helps? The film has now grossed some 3.5 billion, making it he most successful film ever.

Outstanding!

What more can I say about what is one of the all time great movies? They don't make them like this anymore. A wonderful cast, great locations, enhanced by a great music score composed by Max Steiner. This version is the so-called Roadshow version, Overture, first part of the movie, Intermission, then second part of the movie with Exit Music being added onto the end to give it that "Cinematic" feel.Picture quality and sound on this Blu-Ray disc is very good indeed. I do not know whether there is a version available on the new 4K format, but I cannot imagine picture quality being that much better. There are also a couple of good extras, one exploring the history of the "Old South" which is worth seeing.

Gone With The Wind - An All Time Classic

Received the DVD in good time and good condition. Great this classic has been created onto DVD format, compact in that this version plays on both sides of the DVD. No extras, but honestly with approx 224 minutes playing time, this really does not matter. Brought the video previously, so this was simply a replacement version, which does not disappoint. Recommend you seriously choose a full afternoon or evening to settle down with some of your favourite goodies and treat yourself to David O Selznick's dedicated production of Margaret Mitchell's classic epic tale of the American Civil War. Not just a war film, but a strong story from a social history perspective, the impact of change, of love, human frailty and determination to overcome obstacles at all costs. It pretty much has something for everyone, breathtaking film score, impressive photography, historical interest, costume, romance, betrayal, comedy and drama. The sheer scale of the production, and the stars' performances (Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable, Leslie Howard, Olivia de Havilland, Hattie McDaniel and Butterly McQueen) will impress. Never heard of them? Give this film a go, it's simply excellent. The title music alone will stay with you forever. Go on, treat yourself!

Good classic film..

I have seen the film on numerous occasions. It is a good film, but you can see how far films have progressed technically wise and how far we have come. Still a good film.
