Excellent Pottery for children
It was easy to set up and my 8 year old grandaughter read the instructions with me and off she went, it's brilliant for kids as it almost instantly made and no waiting around and successIn making them .she has experimented with designs .We have purchased a large amount of air dry clay in grey .it works a treatCan highly recommend.

Fun product but not the most easy to use
My 11 year old enjoyed doing a mini vase, but it wasn’t the easiest to use. My 8 year old struggled a bit but still enjoyed it. Overall I would recommend but takes a bit of practice

Could be a bit more powerful, but it works
We did try another similar product to this that ran from batteries, this version has a lot more power. It isn't perfect, if one jabs the tool in to the clay it will still stall, but with the added power this toy is definitely more likely to be enjoyed. This set doesn't come with a power source, you need to provide a USB socket. I tried powering it from a USB battery which supposedly could do 3A output, but the turntable definitely had more staying power when powered from a 3A mains adapter. The set comes with a relatively large lump of light clay. I found the clay was a little solid, it could have done with being a little softer. There is a mould within which one pushes the clay, giving it a decent shape to start with. The turntable itself is small, you won't be making a teapot and saucers from this. The turntable comes with a guard around it, to which a template can attach. One then drags the scoops down the template to pare away the unwanted clay.My 6 year old daughter really enjoyed making the vases, and clean up wasn't particularly difficult afterwards either.

Less "pottery" and more "lathe" - not as expected
My 11yr old daughter has been to a few pottery classes - the ones where you throw clay onto a turntable and mould it with your hands. She loves it, and has bought many items home ranging from plates to vases. This "Mini Pottery Studio" sounded like a great gift for her, given her creative nature, so we gave her this as a gift for starting big-school.First observations: The kit contains a lot of parts, but is very much living up to the "mini" name. The whole premise centers around the turntable, which is soda can diameter and almost laughable at first... but read on...The power source isn't included - and I'd recommend a decent quality USB charger. We used an old Apple one initially and there was no torque/ speed in the turntable. Moving to a 20W charger made things much better.Next up: Using the provided air dry clay (or you can use your own), my daughter decided to dive straight into some of the more advanced projects. It was then very much apparent this is more of a lathing/ carving set than a pottery set by nature. You're not "moulding" the clay as much as carving shapes out as it spins. However, it is actually quite good fun and extremely satisfying. The kit has sadly only seen the light of day for a couple of weekends, I'm hopeful that it'll get some more airtime in the quieter winter evenings.Overall, we rate this 3 stars as it's not quite as you would expect - but does serve a purpose. In fairness to the manufacturer, it's very clear from the description/ video what the product actually is.The other reason for the 3 stars is the price. At just under £30 at the time of review, this is quite an expensive purchase for what you get.

Fun
My kids loved this pottery wheel set complete with clay and paints. Detailed instructions on how to make your own pottery creations. The wheel is powerful and perfect for kids to have a go at pottery making and then painting their own pots. Highly recommended.

Great Pottery kit
The make it real pottery wheel kit is good quality and and ideal for rainy play days. We purchased this for the grandchildren and so far they have made some nice pieces, they did a couple of the ones it shows you how to create but they also wanted to make their own unique pieces. The kit comes with everything you need to start learning and good instructions, the children did make a few mistakes but until the clay is dry it's reusable to start again. This would make a lovely gift for any boy or girl.Recommended
