Good account.
The two iconic tanks of the Second world war admirably reviewed by this book.Good photographs and excellent colour illustrations of the two tanks.Must say I'm not a huge fan of the Russians , but the T-34 has to be THE most important tank of all for many reasons , but most of all because it made a huge contribution to final victory against the Nazi's.

Admirable Account
The account of main opponents on the Eastern Front at the most critical time in WWII is daunting. The subject has been covered in so many different ways. While my understanding of the subject is limited, I found Peter Samsonov's coverage engaging. I appreciate the coverage of both sides in 1941. The analysis of effectiveness was adequate. It is difficult to gage the feeling of the times. The coverage is limited to the subject matter, and misses some of the grit of the times. Good, especially for an intro.

Tank versus tank, Eastern Front 1941....
This Osprey Duel series book examines the clash of armor on the Eastern Front in 1941. Specifically, it looks at the encounter between the German Panzer III tank and its Soviet counterpart, the T-34. These two tanks would do much of the fighting that summer. The author walks the reader up through the development of the two tanks before getting to the battlefield. Both had their problems, although it is clear that the T-34 was an inherently better tank and would serve throughout the war. The Panzer III was poorly configured for a one-on-one duel with its Soviet opponent. The text includes lots of period photographs, illustrations, and diagrams. Technical specifications are provided for both tanks. Recommended to students of the Second World War.
