Hogue 08217 Remington 870 OverMolded Stock with Forend, 20 Gauge, Olive Drab Green

I have a yute model 20 gauge Rem 870 we use for home defense like many people. In order to make it more manageable, I added this stock. It was a huge upgrade in feel as it is a bit lighter but the grip is fantastic. Installing was a bit of a chore thanks to the difficulty in getting the forend nut off but we ended up using a correctly sized spade bit gripped in a pair of vise grips. I wasn't going to buy a 20 ga. forend wrench for one use.Be aware you not only need to make sure you get the 20 gauge model as it fits the gun differently where it connects, but there are 2 different lengths of butt stock on the 20 gauge model. And the green one only comes in the longer/normal size. If you want the same length butt as the youth model comes with, you have to buy the shorter black one. Suggest you review the Hogue website and make sure of your model number before you order one.Some people like the shorter butt if you have a youth of course or a smaller person. But another reason might be for tactically moving a still long gun throughout a house at night. The 1.5 inches does make a difference. I decided to go with the standard length.The Remington 870 20 ga. makes a great home defense weapon. Add this stock, a light and a high vis sight and it's a trusty friend in a worsening world.

While attempting to clear a jam we slammed too hard on the butt stock and the stock bolt bent, causing the wood to splinter around the receiver. We replaced my son's 20 gauge Youth Express with this Hogue model. The stock ends up about an inch longer, but it is lighter and has better grip than the wood stock. It comes with the correct bolt and everything went together like it should. I'm happy to have the gun up and running again. As my other son's gun wears and the wood stock takes a beating, we will swap his out too. Easy to install and definitely works on the Youth Express 20 gauge 870 in spite of other reviews saying it didn't fit.

I like the od green color. Easy installation. If you don't have the forend wrench, a spade drill bit works great - 1 1/4" for 12 gauge, 1 1/8" for 20 gauge. Use it manually, not chucked into your drill.

This product does not fit on older older 870 20 gauges. The fore stock does not even fit any but stock is too small for the back of the receiver.

Put this on a 20ga 870 youth model. Fit and finish are excellent! The rubberized grips are extremely comfortable and ensure a good grip with sweaty hands in the summer and gloves hands in the winter. The OD matte finish really looks great and my 15 yr old son absolutely loves it. The thick pad is very easy on the shoulder.

Huge gap between receiver and stock, even though my serial number says this should fit. Had to sand the plastic part that fits in the receiver down, and still doesn't fit tight.
