One of the best board games I've every played
This game is a masterpiece of the board+counters+cards genre GMT is so well known for. Previous efforts, such as Sword of Rome, which I also recommend, were really good, but this is truly the best I've played so far. It's full of detail, nuance, unpredictability, strategy, and historical flavor. If you enjoy diplomacy and a bit of tension, this game is for you. The rules are imposing at first, but they aren't hard to grasp once you've play one or two games solo (this isn't a solo game, though, but it's still fun to try it out that way.)

Simply the best board game I've played
Great, complex board game for 3-6 players (2 player rules exist, but I've never played). Full games last 8-10 hours, but leave you wanting to play again.

A magnificent historical game and simulation
This game is a charmer!One of the best wargames and simulations out there for the early years of the reformation. VERY fun and involving with an INCREDIBLE level of historicity. Not too complex, but it is detailed with many steps. It is recommended for 3-6 players, but you REALLY want 5-6 players for this rascal. The time is estimated at 3-8 hours, and indeed it will take HOURS - not due to complexity, but due to ACTIVITY! A perfect game to play over a looooong day or over several afternoons.One of the best historical games published in the last 40 years!
