FP1E vs others, clear winner.

Best presence sensor I've used, super fast to run automations either in Home Assistant or Homekit.Tried a few of these things, started with Aqara FP2 which to be honest was cool but it seems SLOW to react some days and then some days its fast! Zones are cool if you have a need for it. For me though the FP2 had way more bad days than good.Tried another brand from ApolloAutomations which was super cool, but you really have to tinker with it and due to the ESPHome stuff, it gets a lot of false positives unless you do some more endless tinkering lol.FP1E though, let me tell you, almost ZERO false positives, I've had maybe less than 5 over the 4 of these I own over the past year. Every room is getting one of these for presence detection. You will not regret it. The M3 hub is just bonus with this system, as then the Matter pairing from the hub to ANY other matter ecosystem you are SET. All these come with it.

Hubitat users: Good newer device for automation Zigbee

As others have said, this is a bit of a PITA to set up and pair. You have to pair it twice without removing it from the system after the first, no repeaters, use the built in driver, and get very close to the hub to avoid repeaters when first set up. Other than that, once set up and working, it's pretty terrific. It detects occupancy, not just movement. It is Zigbee so it reports quickly, reports no movement after about 15-20 seconds of no occupancy. this is not a 'presence' sensor in Hubitat terms which refers to being present in the system at home. It refers to being an occupant of a room. It has no illuminance sensor so you can't set it up for control based on illumination. At the current discounted price of about 40, It's a good sensor. At 30 I will buy another or two. Third Reality's motion sensor is 15-20 and a good value for a MOTION sensor. This is NOT battery operated or battery backed up and has a hard wired USB A plug with a 6' (approx) cord, so you will need a power source for it. They say 1a (5v) works. I have mine on a 2a - hard to find just 1a these days, and they are inexpensive if you can. It also re-connects quickly if the power goes out. I found that out when moving it from the 'setup' location to a distant location (with repeaters). All in all not too bad. It's not THAT new (2023) or so and has built in drivers in Hubitat - no need to download other drivers.

Works well with Home Assistant

I bought 2 of these and installed them at my mom's house using ZHA for Home Assistant. They've been very reliable. They aren't as configurable as their more expensive Wi-Fi counterpart, but they seem to be pretty accurate, and have very little delay when a detection is triggered.

NEEDS Aqara Hub for Homekit compatibility but GREAT once it is working

It is erroneous to say this sensor is Zigbee 3 compatible or HomeKit compatible UNLESS you have an Aqara hub. When I added the sensor by itself to my SmartThings system, it showed up as a "Zigbee Connect thing" or some generic nonsense like that. It did nothing.I thought the Zigbee 3 note meant I could use this with HomeKit through SmartThings, but no. It specifically says "Requires Aqara Zigbee 3.0 HUB " and they mean it. Once I bought the cheapest Aqara hub (around $29 when I got it), it still took some work and updating firmware to get it all working, but now it is flawless; I have a simple sensor that will turn lights off when I am not in my office. Also, I don't think this will work in “HomeKit compatible" mode in the Aqara app. I tried it, but the sensor would never pair with the hub. Then when I redid it in the Aqara app with an account (not HomeKit compatible mode), I was notified to update firmware, and things all worked. Once it was set up, it worked great. But the Zigbee 3 note is really about what Aqara hub to get, not hubs in general. So, honestly, I would recommend this if you have an Aqara Zigbee 3 hub or you just add in to the cost the extra for the USB stick Aqara hub. It's an actual "presence sensor" not just motion detection.

Get the FP2 instead

TLDR: get the FP2 presence sensor if you are using HomeKit or different sensor if you have any other platform instead. This is a real review of a customer who actually paid for the product. I have other Aqara products, including some of the newer releases, and my experience with Aqara has been pretty good for the most part. So it pains me to write this review. What I like: Zigbee device meaning local control, set up is pretty simple, magnetic/adjustable mount. The reason I only gave it 1 star:You have to be careful with the descriptionAqara is describing this as "precise detection for optimal spaces." Meaning that if you want presence detection you have to be within the range, which is 30 degrees on any direction from the middle of sensor, and no more than 3 meters (wall mounted). If you are outside that area the sensor is not as accurate and works as slow motion sensor only. So if your room is a decent size this won't be ideal for you.Aqara advertises a detection range of up to 6m ~ 20 ftI've seen people complaining about the power aspect wired vs battery. IMO this is not deal breaker; however, a fixed wire is a deal breaker. Fixed wire means placing can be challenging and you will need an extender. This can become an eyesore with wires hanging where you don't want them. also if for whatever reason your wire breaks that's it. Not to mention that now everything is moving towards USB C and Aqara is not even including the power brick...With this release it feels that Aqara is repurposing a sensor that has been available in the Chinese market for the past 3 years.Aqara get it together this is the second sensor that under delivers this year. The P2 settings cannot be adjusted and now this!
