Good at removing odours
This is a cleaner and deodoriser (I somehow expected this to be just a deodorising spray, which it's not). You use it like a normal cleaner directly on the shoe and then it does its magic to remove and prevent odours. It's a small bottle but you only need a tiny squirt. I personally found it better at deodorising than cleaning (or maybe my shoes were just excessively dirty) but I am very pleased with the stink removal factor. It's also an environmentally friendly product. Would order again.

Citrus scent deodorant and cleaner
Nikwax is a well-known brand related to different after-care products for outdoor gears (technical cleaners and waterproofing products). This Nikwax Footwear Refresh seems to be a novelty on the market. As an old customer of Nikwax products, I was interested to test this new cleaner and deodoriser. This product is designed for non-waterproof footwear and insoles. So, ourbeloved waterproof hiking boots are excluded (you will need to look for the other dedicated Nikwax line of cleaning products for such type of boots). This product cleans, deodorises (citrus scent), and prevents odour build-up. This product is not a spray, but its use is very simple as explained by the instructions. The main downside is that you will need to make wet your shoes, what it would mean that they will take some time to naturally dry (as advised) if you’re cleaing them during the winter. I’ve tested this product on an old pair of trainers. They have recovered their colour and they smell nicer.

Not a refresh spray, more of a washing detergent
When I ordered this I was expecting it to be a deodorising spray that offers a quick solution for well-loved, slightly whiffy shoes. I was dismayed to see that the instructions require you to wet the shoes (removing laces first!), apply the product (it smells pleasantly fresh) and then rinse the shoes thoroughly. The results are good enough, of course, but I couldn't help but think that it would be easier to do what I usually do with smelly shoes - whack them in the washing machine in a mesh bag on a gentle spin with a little bit of laundry detergent. Either way involves a long drying process but at least with a machine wash you haven't had to do it all by hand. I can see this may be useful for shoes that wouldn't survive a machine wash (like kid's light up ones or delicate sandals) but for me this just requires a little bit too much effort to be useful.

Odd but works
Not what I expected as you have to remove laces and when wash the trainers and use this on it. Came out well though with a slightly citrus smell. It's not a freshening spray which I thought it was.

Smells nice
This ink wax footwear refresh smells lovely - really lemony-fresh. It’s basically a gloopy handwash for shoes -so you need to wet the shoes completely, apply the gloop, scrub, and rinse. I ordered this for my husbands trainers, assuming it was a deodorising spray, and tbh Infound it a bit of a faff - would be fine if it’s the height of summer and you can leave them to dry outside, but for winter use, I’ll probably be sticking to the aerosol spray version in future. It does smell really nice, though.

Very strong smell but deoderises nicely
I ordered this shoe/boot cleaner to clean and deorderise some of my trainers and boots, I thought it was a spray at first but it's a liquid that comes out of a spout.I found that the smell of the liquid is very strong, in fact as I'm writing this I can still sense the strong smell even though it's been a few days now. It is one of those disenfectant smells.Does a good job at cleaning and removing the smell from the shoes but the fact you have to wet the shoe and insoles and scrub it and then rinse it off means unless it's warm your shoe and insoles will take ages to dry.

Great
This is a review of "Nikwax FOOTWEAR REFRESH - Shoe Cleaner & Deodoriser. Anti Odour Shoe Deodorant Suitable For Trainers, Sandals, Boots & Insoles. Helps Remove Dirt & Prevents Odour Build-up, Fresh Scent (125ml)"I have used other Nikwax products before, to treat outdoor clothing, so I was keen to try this product from an established brand that I trust.I used it on a well-loved pair of walking shoes that I wear nearly every day when walking the dog and which therefore need to be cleaned regularly.I used it as advised (removing laces first) and let them dry. I wouldn't say that they are any cleaner than my usual method (soap and water) but they are at least as clean and also have a nice fresh smell.I also trust Nikwax as regard the anti-bacterial aspect - which is great for me personally as I occasionally suffer from. fungal foot infections.- - - - - - - - - -Note: As a member of the Vine program I was supplied with this item free of charge. I will always provide an impartial and fair review of the product in question.
