Better than Chat Link
This product combined with a male to male cable is a better solution than Elgato chat link cable. The chat link cable is trash and breaks. You will also need a male to male plug and a 2nd Y split cable that separates the mic from the headphone and then plug the headset ysplit into the Elgato and leave the mic ysplit unplugged.

Don't get this one for gaming!
I bought it so I could *theoretically* use my non-USB gaming headset on my laptop, which only has a single 3.5mm headphone port. Does. Not. Work. At least not so far as I can figure it out. I'll update if I manage to figure it out, but for now, I'm leaving a one-star review with the intention of sending it back. I can plug in both mic and headphone connectors to hear sound, but the quality is absolute shit and the only sound my mic produces is feedback noise. I can BARELY hear anything with all volume settings jacked all the way up. I tried swapping the connectors, same thing. If I take out the mic connector, the sound is a slightly crappier version of the nice sound I usually get from my headset.

Excellent quality. Cables are flexible yet rugged. Will allow my wife and I to listen to the same device together. Great for watching movies on airplane or waiting to for the next flight.

Splits sound not mic on ps4 and pc
Doesn't split mic, does split sounds other than mic input/output at least it doesn't on my ps4 and my gaming PC. I had to go with another alternative.

There's a very slight quality loss, but that's natural for a split cable. Yes, this cable does indeed work for connecting a headset with a microphone

Will not work with Mac
Did not work with iMac or MaBook Air...although it was advertised to work with Mac products.
