Eastland Men's Jayce Cap Toe Rugged Boot

Excellent choice
I have two pairs of synthetic material boots from Eastland that I love, so these were a must. Probably not a work boot, but I wear them casually almost daily and the quality holds up well with about 2 miles of walking a day. I get constant compliments on the look, they are comfortable, the leather is not too thick so I can wear it year round in AZ. I use an insole with all my boots, otherwise a half size smaller might be necessary. I also have skinny bony feet and these would be better for a wider type foot. Regardless, it's my favorite pair to wear now with business casual or jeans. I got the brown ones and I'm going to buy the black ones as soon as I can afford it. I should also say that the leather was easy to condition to get them to a slightly darker brown like I prefer. The out of the box lighter brown looked great too, I just prefer a darker coffee color.

Decent, But Not Great Boot.
Would rate 3.5/5 if possible. Decent fit, comfort, etc.... The finish work is pretty ho-hum, the pull tab on the back came loose 4th time wearing, the leather quality is average, and the speed laces, etc.... have a lower quality feel. There were some sewing flubs also here and there.Nice boots fashion wise, and decent if bought at a discount, but a very average shoe.

AMAZING quality and looks for their price.
I would say a lot of things if they were Redwings and i had expended 400 bucks on them..... but.... for the pricetag this boots have.... WHAT CAN I SAY???..... they look AMAZING, they fit unbelievably good (they wont have to be Broken) and the build quality is just fine, as any cemented sole shoe could be..... I will be happy if they endure one year of wearing... if they are a mess by then, i will buy another pair.... the pricetag doesnt prevent me from doing it, and meanwhile, i will be enjoying a pair of head turning boots that look like iron rangers. I just want fashionable boots, so i wont take them to my farm to work with them.... Im Happy with this buy... VERY HAPPY!..... Go ahead!.... buy a pair!.

Even with a little glitch this is a great boot
This should be a five-star boot and normally is the fit is spot on usually and that's for every pair I bought BUT this is the first pair I bought and maybe because it's an older stock it's unlined and I actually had to break them in the same quality but normally they come feeling like they are broken in already I'm sure because of the lining throughout the inside of the boot.. so loosely laced it took a week to break them in so they are comfortable enough to wear.. obviously they'll get better as I wear them more.. other than that still a great boot for the price

If you want the look of Iron Rangers but not the price
Overall I'm very happy with these and happy to recommend them. I own Iron Rangers in brown and wanted the same look in a black boot and these fit the bill perfectly. Very comfortable right out of the box (vs Iron Rangers which take awhile to break in). They are not at the same quality/weight of Iron Rangers and the speed hooks feel a little cheap when you lace them but for the price they are excellent quality and I'd buy them again.

A well made boot
The description said they run large. There was no wide width. Took a chance and ordered my size. I wear an E or double EE width. It fits really well. Comfortable. Wore them all day for 3 days after I received them. They are well made and the leather is between work boot thickness and regular shoe thickness

Great boots for everything: Work, grunge look, casual office attire. RUNS TRUE TO SIZE.
Excellent boots. Very good quality leather, the insoles are a dream, and lacing structure is good. I love the boots' Silhouette... reminds me a little of Doc Martens. One thing to note: THEY DO NO RUN BIG! I bought an 8 and 9 just in case, and the 9 (my normal size) fits perfect. These run true to size. Very much true to size.

Cheaply made
These boots are very comfortable and true to size, but only after wearing them maybe a dozen times, just walking around, nothing heavy or hard on the boots, the sole of the boot has separated from the heel, almost a third of the way up the boot. In the process of trying to get a refund

Ok
Nice leather uppers that takes no “break in” period. Comfortable from the start but soles are very soft so could wear out easily. Too bad the boot isn’t lined, but for the price....not bad. Fits a little large but not enough to go down a size.

Good boots, wear them everyday.
Tough boots, wear them everyday, very durable. Will consider buying another pair in the future. A little uncomfortable at first, but continue wearing them and they'll soon adjust to your feet. Great buy!

A bit of an off fit.
Nicely put together upper. Not stitched to sole. Ordered my regular size but they run slightly too large in all directions...box, length and width. The memory insoles are nice-ish but the extra room makes the foot slip around. A good looking boot but may require a try on to make sure it fits like you want.

Overall a disappointing Iron Ranger substitute.
Ordered Nov 27, 2019So as you can see in the photo, the right boot is the iron ranger, the left boot is the Eastland Jayce cap toe boot. Is it an Iron Ranger? No. But is it a good second place. I picked up a pair for 140$, and I have no regrets. If you are comparing to the Iron Rangers, you should know the Eastlands are way lighter. The leather is not as thick and I think there's less of it, the outsole is a lighter material, the insole and footbed are fabric and synthetic. These aren't necessarily detractors, but it will definitely impact the longevity of the boots. The stitch of the leather is lighter, and the outsole is definitely not a Goodyear welt. You will, however, be thankful after a long day of wearing them. And the break in time was maybe a week a most, short compared to the Iron Rangers, which took a month of solid wear and much mink oil before they were comfortable. The outsole looks to be a nice grippy rubber, which hasn't changed character even in -30c last week. And the boots haven't let any water in yet. That's a bonus.A couple things though, Eastland. Why are you gluing the insoles into the boots? Do you really think they're that great? Because they are not. They are ok but doomed to fail. And the finger loop in the back. Why bother putting a finger loop that's too small for fingers to loop into? And too short to provide help in pulling your boots on to your feet? That's nonsense. Why even bother. And the boots need decent laces. Mine are done after just a couple months. Done. I'll replace them with a pair from Redwings from Get Outside for 7 bucks. But why cheap out on the laces? That's disappointing.Update February 10 2020So the leather is holding up, but the cotton lining in the toe and around the heel has torn in both boots, and the plastic used to maintain shape behind the heel has cracked and is quickly falling apart.Update July 18 2020So a little over 6 months in, and these boots are on their last legs. Honestly, for the money I'd hoped I'd get a year out of these. The plastic support material has crumbled and the liner torn heal and toe. Turns out, the insole is glued in because it looks like the steel shank has been riveted and glued to it instead of the footbed. The footbed is made of cardboard and has fallen apart. Disappointed.
