Majohn P139 NO.8 Fine Nib Piston Fountain Pen with Box, Brass Piston System Large Capacity Writing Pen

Great writer, good looking, looks well-built

The steel nib is surprisingly good but I installed a Montblanc 149 nib and now find the pen very satisfying to use, nice to look at, nice to write with.

This review is based on the orange version with a no. 8 nib.This pen is a worthy emulation of Montbanc’s 1992 limited edition Hemingway pen. The build quality is very good. The clip, whose design is based on that of the Montblanc Hemingway, is very stiff but usable. I loosened it a bit by putting a handkerchief under it and pulling up. If you try that, be careful. If you loosen it too much there is no going back.As for the no. 8 nib, it writes very smoothly with a fine to medium line. Inverted, it writes well with an extra fine line.

The pen fills well built and solid. The materials are beautiful and compliment each other nicely. There is a large ink window to see how much ink is left, and it is covered when capped. I did have a slight misalignment on the nib when I got it, but less than a minute it was lined up and ready to go. The piston is smooth and gets a great fill.

This is exactly what I was hoping it would be. Ordered with the #8 nib. Its a large pen, with a great feel.

Great writer right out of the box after a clean. Nib has a nice feel, large amount of ink can be loaded. Barrel fits those hands that are larger (like mine) only issue issue is that the barrel by itself isn't long enough to be comfortable without posting the cap but the cap really doesn't snug onto the barrel securely. I'll have to keep using it for a time and see if it's something that can "wear in". Overall do recommend.

Lovely pen. The instruction folder has NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS PEN!!! Do not read it; it will confuse you. Unfortunately, you will not get to see the heavy duty brass mechanism shown in the ad. Available in China with the #8 nib. Might be too much of a nib. The #6 is fine. If it ain't broke.......! I like it and well worth the money. Majohn keeps hitting them out of the park!

Anyone who missed out on the dolce vita and the Hemingway should give this pen with a number 8 nib a chance, you will be seriously impressed with this modern interpretation of a classic fountain pen style! It’s not just a well executed style, but mine was well tuned and writes beautifully, a nib that I don’t have to tune is a rarity even with brands like Pelikan, Kaweco, and really most that don’t get tuned by retailers after production, so this level of quality control at all levels of the pen, impress me as a fountain pen user and collector of over 2 decades. This pen punches well above its price!
