Q: Will it fit the bore of a .22lr pistol?

For the people that no it does not fit, do you mean that the rod is too short? I would think that a .22 bore is the same on all .22 cal. guns.

Q: Will the 45 brass also clean a 50 cal desert eagle?

The .45 caliber brush is designed to tightly fit the .45 caliber bore. An additional .050 of an inch in bore diameter will produce a much more loose fit when using the brush designed for the .45. In short, you can use it but you will not get a good scrubbing effect. The kit is very nice. Add a .50 caliber bronze brush and go to town. After all, you are only talking about a few extra bucks. Just make sure the .500 brush has the same thread pattern as the kit's rod.

Q: are the brushes labeled with size info?

Yes: labeled 22, 357, 40, 45. Note: 357 is same size as 38 Spl and 9mm, 22 is same as 223/5.56mm.
