Easy to use, worked like a champ
Wasn't sure what to do when I stripped the threads on a mounting bracket on the engine of my truck while changing coil packs. Did some research and ran across this 'helicoil' technology. I needed a pretty small on (M5), and none of the local auto parts stores carried any that small. Found this set on Prime-Same Day delivery, and ordered it.It arrived as shown....no instructions whatsoever. Having watched a couple of YouTube videos on using helicoils for thread repair, it was pretty self explanatory. The kit comes with the coils, a drill bit, a tapping drill bit, a punch and the insertion tool. Instructions would be:1. Drill out the existing hole using the 'plain' drill bit.2. Tap the hole with the tapping bit to create some threads for the helicoil. A little cutting oil helps here (a drop or two).3. Blow or vacuum out any of the metal shavings from Steps 1 & 2.4. Place a coil on the end of the insertion tool, with the tang of the coil in the bottom slot on the tool. If you are working in a tight spot, or in a downward position, put a dab of grease on the tool. The stickiness will hold the coil on the tool.5. Screw the coil into the prepared hole. There is a set screw and collar on the tool you can use to set the insertion depth of the coil, if needed.6. Once at the desired depth (typically a turn or two below the lip of the hole), remove the tool, and insert the punch.7. Tap the punch with a hammer (gently) and break off the tang. Blow or vacuum the tang out if needed.8. Install your bolt as designed. All in, this took me about 10 minutes, and the bolt threaded in perfectly and locked in tight.

Easiest fix in a long time.
After living without an antenna on my '02 Tacoma for years, I decided it was time and this kit was the key because the threads that a new antenna needed to be screwed into were gone, literally. Music was playing within 15 minutes! The only surprise was there was no handle for the tap, which is used to create the new threads. I wasn't concerned with it being perfectly vertical so I just went slowly and used pliers but you might want to make sure you have the right tool on your job. The kit doesn't come with instructions but everything you need to know is here, in the description. If you have questions, I'll be in the truck with the annoying music blaring!

Usuitable - bad fit and quality
I was attempting to repair three stripped mount holes for a Stihl string trimmer recoil starter assembly.!) the 5.2mm drill bit. Seems okay - cut clean smooth holes with no chipping or chattering.2) the tap - again - seems okay. At least to my eyes it left smooth well-formed threads.3) the inserts and insert tool - not so okay.I've had nearly no success getting the inserts to... well, insert. They do not seem to want to engage the tapped threads, and can decide to just make their own path as they're being screwed in. You have to apply a little pressure towards the tapped hole as you're inserting - if you don't, you'll never catch the thread to get the insert started. Once you get one loop threaded, the rest of the insert should neatly thread in.It doesn't. The first clue is that the insert tool is hard to remove, which means the insert is not correctly seated into the tapped threads, squeezing the insert tool. I've also had two of the snap-off tangs break with barely half the insert in. One that I thought was successfully inserted would not accept an m5 screw - and on looking closer, I could tell that the insert was once again, not evenly seated in the tapped threads. At this point, my time and sanity are worth more than any savings I thought I was getting with this kit.
