worth the price
I am using it as a standalone gate. I have not mounted it on wall. So my review points will be based on the standalone setting. I have been using it for more than 1 month.Pros:1. Sturdy: My baby cannot move it even when she tries to shake it or push it. She is 14 months 20lbs. I didn't want to buy a flimsy one just because it is cheaper than this product.2. Safe: It is the tallest safety gate i could find. It is taller than my baby so she can't try to jump (she always tries to jump from her crib by stacking toys). Also it is not easy for her to open the gate - Strong latch. Vertical bars are neither too close nor too far apart. So baby can put hands out without getting stuck, she can't put herself through either.3. Size is ok even without the extension panel: I had thought the enclosed area looked too small in the pictures and was ready to buy the extension panel; but I bought just the gate first to try it out. It worked ok even without the extension panel. My baby does not look too enclosed.4. Doesn't look too bulky: I have seen other safety gates at my friends' places, they look too bulky, occupying an entire area. This product doesn't give that feel.5. Easy to set up: I took just 15-20 minutes to set it up. Instruction booklet could have been written better, but I could do it without much hassle.Cons:1. Metal: baby can hurt if she falls down inside and hits herself. Will be good to buy this product once the baby can sit/stand stable without falling down extremely frequently. I have placed stuffed toys here and there close to the panels so that really helps. Could use a bumper, but she can use it as a stepping bar.2. Hexagon shape needs to be reset whenever you move it. It is not a real hassle or bother for me, but would have been nice if there is some latch to maintain the shape once I set it up. Just a minor note. There are arrows and lines to direct us to align the panels to form a hexagon shape, that is helpful.Overall, worth the money. I haven't found any major issues thus far. Will recommend it to friends.

Great for puppy
Purchased to use for a corgi puppy. We also have a second wire metal playpen that is made for dogs. This one is much sturdier in comparison, and the door is easier to use than the wire x-pen door, which has three latches. We did have an issue with the puppy biting the metal bars and some of the plastic connecting pieces at first, but an application of bitter apple spray seems to have solved that. The only downside to this playpen is the weight. It is fairly heavy, but that's why it's sturdy. It is easy to move though just by pivoting a few panels at a time, and the pads on the bottom offer excellent floor protection (we have wood floors). Set up was easy and quick, and adding or removing panels is pretty easy once you figure out how to pull down on the spring mechanism at the top of the connecting rod. I bought the two expansion panels, but haven't added them yet. This playpen is more expensive than the wire metal ones for dogs, but it is high quality and a great option to use with a puppy, as long as your dog has short legs and can't jump over it :)

BUY THIS NOW!!!!
I always spend HOURS trying to find the best of everything to buy: this is it, this is the one right here. I love this brand. They are reliable and I have used them through three kids over the span of 13 years and they are STILL reliable as they were back then. I have the most awkward wall spacing in my manufactured home and I knew I wasn't far off from the days of needing a baby gate, so I would browse and then fail to commit to one. Eventually my little one was mobile and I still hadn't decided, I almost bought another North States gate that would have required a also purchase an extension piece, then by accident I found this one and it's long enough to cover the entire area I needed. Big bonus, this gate was a much better price-point than having to purchase the two pieces. I ordered this immediately, it came on time, etc, etc. Installation went smoothly, and we removed two extra panels we did not need easily. The system for shaping the gate by simply loosening or tightening a plastic piece at the angles is brilliant, and foolproof. We did install it into studs for safety. The gate is perfect. We have had it installed for about 6 months now. It has to endure a family of five, including one toddler, a 13 year old, and a 9 year old. EVERYONE SLAMS THIS THING, but it still works! My daughter hasn't learned to open this or climb it and she is 20 months. We have discovered that the gate has scratched our floors at the joint points underneath from all the slamming so beware if your floors are easily scratched.
