I lost my last travel nail maintenance kit recently, prompting me to search for another. I have particularly thick nails, both fingers and toes—it’s not fungal, all the men in my family have this trait. As a result, I’m very particular about clipping kits—they need to be sharp and precise, cutting the nail without cracking or tearing. This is especially true for my toenails—with previous kits that I liked, I would still have to trim only after a shower or bath when the nail was softer or I’d get cracks, sometimes painful ones extending into the nail bed. Not so with this kit. I just trimmed my dry toenails to test the seller’s claims, and this kit delivered. Cuts were precise, did not extend beyond the blade (eg no cracking), the tools were easy to control and handled even my thick toenails easily. I typically have to cut with just 1/2 the blade actually cutting; most clippers will not cut if I put the whole length of the blade over a toenail. This set did even that well, though I did have to squeeze pretty hard. But this beats all other clippers I’ve ever used. Color me impressed. I don’t write many reviews, so if I’m taking the time to sing praises for something as mundane as a nail clipping kit, you can believe they are worth the money. If I had to pick one dislike, maybe it’s the emory board; this has a cross-hatch pattern for filing, whereas my previous kit had a metallic ‘sandpaper’ style board, which I think I prefer, but this only the slightest of niggling complaints. Seriously, a great kit out of the box; we’ll see if the sharpness lasts.

Nice little nail kit, but the tools don't really fit nicely into the provided case. :( I tried all the nail clippers to make sure they cut nicely, and they do! That's why it gets at least 3 stars. I was a bit concerned about that because cheaper kits tend to have sub-par clippers that don't leave a nice, clean cut. These actually have a good, sharp edge and cut very clean. My issue is mostly with the case but the case was the main draw to purchase this kit. Nice case on the outside......nice and soft cushioned outer shell. However, I would have much preferred the case to be a hard shell and have some cushioning on the inside where the tools are stored to leave a little "give" room when closing. The inside is hard, the stow spaces need elastic to be more secure for the tools (several of the smaller tools won't stay in place and flop around), and I have to force the case closed because it is a bit too thin for the tools. Once the case is "closed" it isn't really completely closed. There is a small gap in the case, and I'm afraid that the smaller tools that aren't being held in place well will fall out easily. Because of the pressure on the snap closure, because the tools are a bit too large for the case, I am certain it will pop itself open if I try to carry it in my purse.....which is what I bought it for. Nobody wants loose tools in their purse! Especially the sharp, needlepoint tool! :/I would highly suggest a redesign on the case, but the tools seem to be nice.

I like the tools. The case is nice it seems sturdy. However it does not claspe down all the way on the one side. There is just a small gap due to the heads of the bigger tools. You can't turn them around and try to even it out so that they all aren't facing that direction due to the elastic. It seems to be fine, I just hope over time it does not wear out the hinges or how securely it closes. The tools are sharp and easy to cut with.
