SK Hynix is a company that makes much of the RAM that comes included with computers. My Dell Optiplex 390 came with 4GB of SK Hynix RAM like this in one slot. There was another slot available. I purchased this SK Hynix RAM because it is identical to the RAM in the computer. For this price, it was very intelligent to do so. The RAM has now been doubled and has reached its maximum possible RAM.I had people tell me that this Dell Optiplex 390 could "potentially" take 16GB of RAM with two 8GB sticks. But, the crucial.com website and the Dell instruction manual both said it could only take a total of 8GB of RAM - with 4GB of RAM in each of the two slots. I figured 8GB of RAM was probably the limit, because this LGA 1155 motherboard is actually only a SATA II motherboard and only has PCIe 2.0.This RAM did an excellent job of arriving quickly in the mail, being priced reasonably, and being very easy to install. You simply take off the cover of the desktop computer, and then line up the RAM in the slot. When you have the RAM lined up in the slot, you simply push down until you hear a "click." That means the RAM has been locked into place. Finally, you put the cover back on and everything is all set. The desktop automatically recognizes the additional RAM.

I already have two memory cards in my computer which has four memory slots. Putting the two new cards into the empty slots did not work, but by re-arranging the order of the four cards into the four slots got things to work OK. The new cards were the same manufacturer and model as the old cards. Why the arrangement of cards in slots made a difference, I don't know.Final result: I now have more memory and my computer runs faster.

I replaced two 1 GB cards with two 4 GB cards and my total memory went from 4 to 10. It has made a world of difference in my computer performance. They were very easy to install. You just need to open the hold down clips, remove the old cards and push the new cards down until they click in place. These are a great improvement in both speed and reliability. I have had no freezes since updating.
