Does anyone have expereince and know the max size beaker this can fit? 100ml, 150ml, 250ml, or 400ml?
what is the maximum diameter (clearance) of the rod where the head can fit?
How long is it? How short can it be adjusted to?
How far from the vertical rod is the gripping point? In other words, if grasping a test tube, what is the clearance between it and the vertical rod?

Decent Clamp for the Money

After reading the negative reviews on this product I decided to stress test this clamp for myself. If it did happen to break it would be better to find out early on instead of having expensive glassware be damaged. I happened to have a 20 pound calibration weight handy so I put it on the supposed weak areas. After letting it sit for a while I checked for any noticeable stress points and there were none. You do realize 20 pounds is a far greater weight than I would ever subject the clamp to long term and for very good reasons. However the clamp seemed to handle the excessive weight just fine with no damage. Furthermore I subjected the clamp to this stress several times in a row with similar results...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. For the final test I suspended my new Pyrex 4000 ml Erlenmeyer Flask a few inches above the base plate of my ring stand and let it sit with my hand near the bottom of the flask just in case. The flask did not budge an inch and trust me that big flask is heavy even when empty. I will however concur with other reviewers on the quality of the metal the clamp is constructed of. It doesn't take Enstein level intelligence to tell that it's a cheaper metal just by holding it in my hand. Overall for the money this clamp is an exceptional value and will probably last a long time when used properly.

Worked perfectly & held up for multiple opening/closing to hold science fair test subject (more than 50 open/close in a weekend)

Purchased for my son's science fair project. Got past the school science fair and onto the regional fair. He was using it to hold a PVC "capsule" that was about 2 1/2 inches in diameter; however, he did more than 36 tests, so there was repeated opening and closing of the clamp, as well as making sure the adjustment was accurate for each "test fire" from the chef's butane torch. He had to open and adjust the clamps several times beyond those 36 times. Anyone who's done a science fair project involving materials like this is well aware that you end up doing tests for adjustments, so I'd say he easily adjusted this more than 50 times over a single weekend. Considering how inexpensive it was, I was concerned that the thumb screws were going to show immediate signs of wear and break off (other reviewers have had trouble). It was perfect for what he needed, and priced right. I would certainly recommend. No issues at all.

Chromatography - recombinant protein preps

This 3-finger lab clamp works exactly as expected; and a durable quality build. In my case, I’m loading either anion exchange (AEX) media for plasmid DNA purification or affinity media for purification of recombinant proteins heterologously expressed in microbial cell chassis. Q: Is it the best quality build? A: No, but it works as intended and is relatively economical so I’ve given it a 4 star review (and yes, I am a geneticist and actually purchased the product without any conflict of interest).

Far better than the clamps that came with my stand.

I picked up a basic stand for some of my lab glassware, and while it came with a decent assortment of clamps, I wanted something a bit more "robust" when I set up delicate gear like my spiral condenser. There's a lot of delicate glass there. This clamp is a world above what came with my stand. If I had to complain about 1 thing, I wish it had a bit more adjustability in the length department. But given the reasonable cost, I can live with it. I can see myself buying a few more of these in the future.

Good quality.

These work very well and the PVC makes for a nice grip. Just know that you should not have it holding something like a distillation flask opening as the PVC will melt a bit. You can probably remove the PVC grips if you want to hold a piece of glassware that will be hot, but I have not tried this yet. It would probably be better just to get a cheaper one without PVC if you need that.

Die-cast metal?

Am I the only one that had broke the clamp? What hooks up to the rod twice a repaired it once and it cracked higher up the metal. It looks like sand compacted and wasn't really cooked all the way??. I don't know what the heck this is, wish I kept it for pictures. Full me twice, shame on you fool me only 3 times shame on me and its not happening 3 times!!! Good luck yall
